counseling, and coordination of care, are considered
contributory factors in the majority of encounters.
Although the last two of these contributory
factors are important E/M. services, is not required
that these services be provided during every patient
encounter. The final components, time, is discussed in
detail in the EM guidelines of CPT 2007.

summarize the requirements for reporting EM
services. The EM guidelines and
the full code descriptors provided in CPT 2007 are
essential elements in determining final code
selection.
